How a Designer Chooses the Best Mother’s Day Blooms

You know that friend whose style you wish you could emulate? Whose home is the perfect balance of trendy and traditional? That’s Sara Costello. When you step inside her New Orleans home, which she shares with her husband Paul and two children (Carolina, 21, and Ruffin, 14), it’s clear why Costello is a successful interior designer.  The mix of modern pieces and antique decor is done just right in a way that makes you wish you lived there, too. “We try to create interiors that look intentional, yet effortless,” she says.

Thanks to her work designing hotels and home interiors, Costello regularly evaluates flowers, which she also loves sending to friends and family. Though, like most shoppers, she’s conscious of more than just how they look. “Price is a huge factor! Followed by the actual mix and then the vase itself,” she says of the blooms she chooses.

As Mother’s Day approaches, we asked Costello to share the blooms she’s most excited about giving and receiving this year. Here are her top 1-800-Flowers.com bouquets and gifts to inspire your own shopping.
